Hi! I'm Brendan Dabkowski.

I'm a Rochester, New York, based freelance writer, editor, and writing instructor. I'm a former editor with the University of Chicago Press, and I am now taking on freelance writing and editing clients.

I am a reliable, enthusiastic editor, writer and proofreader with more than 20 years of experience. I've worked as a medical copywriter, scientific magazine editor and writer, proofreader, fact-checker, newspaper editor/designer, e-commerce content specialist, web site writer and editor, and academic book editor.

I specialize in editing of all sorts - from stylistic to scholarly - line editing, and developmental editing and writing, and I work in digital and print, or manuscript, formats.

A fastidious attention to detail informs all of my work, but I am also an easygoing and creative writer and editor. No matter the project, I will do what it takes to make it clean, readable, and enjoyable.

Why Work With Me?

  • You need a writer, editor or proofreader. I provide these services to my clients.

  • You're busy. Work with a freelance writer and editor who can independently manage assignments from start to finish. I'm here to make your job less stressful.

  • You need an efficient writer and editor who meets deadlines. I've worked with corporate, academic, and other organizations providing writing and editing services for years. I'm experienced in meeting deadlines under pressure while delivering high-quality content.

  • You're results-oriented. My writing, editing and proofreading skills have helped clients raise their professional standards and grow their businesses.

  • You value the details. I'm a stickler for AP Style, grammar, and brand style, and will ensure your communications and writings are on point.
